Early life and Background
Som Shekar was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India in a middle-class South-Indian family. He follows Hinduism and belongs to Rajput caste. He holds an Indian Nationality. He has one younger brother named Lathu. His father is a retired army officer, and his mother is a housewife. Som completed his schooling from a local high school in Tamil Nadu. After his schooling, he joined a college there to complete his graduation. He is a fitness enthusiast, takes care of his body, and also trains others to get into the best shape. He started competing in fitness competitions from a very young age.

Som Shekar is currently living a dating free life. He hasn’t talked about his personal life much in any of the interviews. But he mentioned on one episode of Bigg Boss Tamil season 4 that he was dating a girl back in 2010, they broke up because of some personal reasons. Som Shekar started his career as a fitness trainer and a model. He has appeared in more than one hundred television commercials and brand promotions. He made his television debut with a Tamil TV show, Azhagiya Tamil Magan and secured the 2nd position there. He is also very passionate about boxing. He has won two gold medals at the International level competitions. Som trained mixed martial to become a professional MMA trainer. He has won many awards and medals thought his professional and non-professional career. Currently, he appears on the famous reality TV show, Bigg Boss Tamil season 4 which is hosted by Kamal Haasan. Som has been doing very good in the show and is considered as one of the strongest contenders to win the show.
