Shanaya Kapoor was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is the star kid of actor and producer Sanjay Kapoor and jewellery designer Maheep Sandhu. She has a younger brother, Jahaan Kapoor. Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor are her uncles and Reena Kapoor is her aunt. Her cousins are Sonam Kapoor, Harshvardhan Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, Mohit Marwah and Akshay Marwah. Shanaya attended the Ecole Mondiale World School, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is a trained dancer.

Shanaya made her public debut in 2019 with the prestigious invite-only annual ball, “Le Bal des Debutantes Paris”. She worked as an assistant director for the 2020 movie “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl”, starring her cousin – Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role. In 2021, she made her commercial advertisement debut with a hair straightening brand “The Misfits Way”. She signed with Dharma Productions for her Bollywood debut in 2022.
